2024

3200+ attendees

On May 11th, 2024, our team of over 500 passionate volunteers hosted
Western University’s 7th annual Science Rendezvous at Alumni Stadium.

Science Rendezvous events across Canada embraced the
national theme of “INNOVATE” and our event was no exception, featuring
over 25 new activities and demonstrations at booths and stage shows!

"This event is an absolute blast! It's incredibly
interactive and engaging, and the best part is that it's free! It's perfect for anyone who's curious and wants to have a great time. What we loved most is that every station allowed us to dive right in. I can't help but wish I had something like this when I was growing up. Keep up the fantastic work; we're already looking forward to next year!"

2021

In 2021 we hosted our first virtual Science Rendezvous event.

Although we couldn't see everyone in person, we had lots of fun participating in online activities including an interactive GatherTown event, live broadcasts from the Thames Region Ecological Association and The Hume Cronyn Memorial Observatory, and so much more!

“I think what we learned is that everybody’s basically born a scientist. Most people are innately curious, and Science Rendezvous gives a very efficient way for all the researchers in Canada to join hands and make science truly accessible.”

2000+ Attendees

On May 11, 2019, members of the greater London Community participated in the 3rd edition of Science Rendezvous at Western University.

The theme, STEAM BIG, aimed to showcase the Arts in Science.

Attendees experienced the joy of discovery by visiting 33 diverse activity centers and watching dazzling and captivating stage shows.

“Science Rendezvous is absolutely one of my favourite
events of the year! The way that volunteers of Science Rendezvous educate people is not only incredibly engaging, but also super fun! As a volunteer, not only do I get to communicate science to the public, but I also get to learn about science from volunteers in different departments.”

2017

On May 13th, 2017, we hosted Western’ first Science Rendezvous!

We welcomed 16 booths and 4 highlighted shows. Visitors explored the far-flung regions of our solar system with activities for scientists of all ages. Phantastic Physics taught us what watermelons, flywheels and smoke rings have in common, Paleontological Brain Teasers brought us trivia from the time of earliest known life on Earth, and the evening finished off with a BANG! brought to us by the Chemistry department.

"...Kids and families came to campus today for Science Rendezvous to learn more about science and how fun it can be. Thank you to the organizers and the volunteers for their hard work. It was a pleasure to be there."
